There are several features to the pacer which are poorly thought out, causing distress for the person using it. Firstly, the lid of the eraser; not only is the eraser as a whole inadequately small, but also the lid becomes a hassle to take on and off if one were to make many mistakes. It also causes frustration as each time the lid is pushed back over the eraser it releases more lead, resulting in the lead having to be pushed back in by the user, a time consuming and annoying hassle for the user. This unwanted release of lead also occurs when the user is erasing to hard and pushes to release the lead this way.
The lid was apparently added to the design because it was thought that the market would think of the sight of an eraser to remind them of their mistakes while also providing a more aesthetical cleaner image for the product. So therefore it’s not a functional feature, but rather an unnecessary aesthetical attribute.
This design can be dramatically improved just by simply removing the lid and moving the button to release the lead to perhaps under the pocket clip, like used in pens to “pop” them up into the case to prevent them from leaking in your pocket. A Larger eraser would also be more appropriate for people like me who constantly are erasing my mistakes. Its just these two features that make this product frustrating and not functional, with these changed I think I would finally be able to get along with a Pacer.
